What is Baltic Amber?

Amber is categorised as an Organic Gem Material of vegetable origin. Amber is not a mineral, but a time-hardened fossilised resin of the species of pine called 'Pinus Succinisera' which, around 45 million years ago grew in forests throughout the European Mainland known to us today as the Baltic Region. The resin from these trees became fossilised after millions of years of being buried under sedimentary layers of earth. This new environment with its low oxygen levels, increased temperatures and pressures produced the material we now call Amber.

What's in Baltic Amber?

Natural Baltic Amber is high in Succinic Acid content and contains as much as 8% by weight. Succinic Acid is also a natural constituent of plant and animal tissues.

What is Succinic Acid?
Succinic Acid is a powerful anti-oxidant that helps fight toxic free radicals found within the human body. Succinic Acid has been shown to stimulate neural system recovery, bolster the immune system and helps compensate for energy drain in the body and brain. It also is known to boost awareness, concentration, reflexes and reduce stress.
Recent scientific research has proved that Succinic acid stimulates the Thyroid Gland which results in the reduction saliva (drooling), reduces red inflamed cheeks and has an analgesic (pain relief) effect on the body.

Amber History
Even before mankind knew that there were things called antibiotics, the people of Europe recognised that Amber had magical curative powers. They used it when we today would use an antibiotic. Amber was utilised during this time in many forms. They used Amber bracelets, necklaces, powder, chips, stones, oils and smoke. Now that modern science has discovered the importance of what Succinic Acid can do, they have confirmed what the people of Europe have known for centuries.
